Q: Impressive resume you got! I was trying to find an agent. I have been discovered as a celebrity lookalike. People from all over the world ask for my picture. I really haven’t marketed that well but I Was Offered an audition to do a music video and CBS even contacted me. I am so frustrated in that I can’t get a rep to launch me. What do you think?
Rob

A: Thanks Rob! The question I pose to anyone that’s looking for an agent is, “What are you doing to improve your package so that a representative would even be interested in you?” How about you submit yourself to auditions online, build your resume, experience and demo and then resubmit to agents? You are only going to be as good as your package. Trust me, I understand your frustration. Truly. Why? Because I am you, was you and am still you. You must match your package to your talent or you will stay in that “spin zone” for quite some time. And when you do get an agent, your work needs to continue. Work begets work and then you get noticed. Make everyone run after you because you’re working that much.

Q: Hi, My name is Naomi Ruffin I can sing but not well enough to be noticed. I can act but not well enough to get a major role. But, I love everything about the entertainment world. If I wanted to help out with talent scouting how would I go about it? Thank you so much.

A: Hi Naomi. The best thing to do is to work as an intern in a Casting Director or Management/Talent Agency office. You will get trained and experience the business on that side. Then you can decide is that’s what you really want to do. It’s a very exciting business. You can also work in production or for a production company that has an in-house casting department.

Q: If a project is asking for an actor/musician, how important do you think it is that I know the instrument really well? I just started playing guitar and can play a couple basic songs, but I am not able to sight read yet, and would need some time to learn and practice a new song. Thank you!

A: Unfortunately, you can’t glide through when it comes to playing an instrument. There really are levels to contend with. So, you really can’t say that you play an instrument when you’re just starting out.

While I have no idea what your comment about throwback to the sixties refers to, its your blog and I certainly respect your decision.
Most of the family members aware of this story have passed, except for a couple of siblings. I brought it up mainly to point out that I am by no means unsympathetic and fully understand that people can be wrongly accused, and pay a terrible price, even after they are long dead.
Human nature is what it is.
